Vizianagaram MP Kalishetti Appalanayudu has emerged as one of the best-performing Members of Parliament in the latest report released by the Lok Sabha. Covering the period between June 24, 2024, and April 4, 2025, the report assessed members on attendance, participation in debates, and questions raised. Mr. Appalanayudu secured the first position in both attendance and questions. He recorded 99 per cent attendance and asked 115 questions, placing him fourth overall in the House performance rankings.
Prime Minister’s Acknowledgement
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a meeting in Parliament on August 11, commended Mr. Appalanayudu’s performance. He noted the MP’s consistent efforts in raising issues related to railways and civil aviation for the development of Andhra Pradesh. The recognition has strengthened the Telugu Desam Party’s position within the National Democratic Alliance. Analysts believe it could translate into enhanced central support for Andhra Pradesh.
Public Image and Initiatives
Mr. Appalanayudu drew attention from the start of his tenure by cycling to Parliament on the first day. He also donated his first month’s salary to Amaravati development projects. On International Women’s Day in March, he pledged a deposit of ₹50,000 for families with a third girl child, signalling his commitment to social causes. In August, he held discussions with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and State Minister Nara Lokesh on railway projects for Vizianagaram, further reflecting his focus on constituency development.
Boost for North Coastal Andhra
Observers say the ranking will bring additional opportunities for development in Vizianagaram district. By highlighting constituency-specific issues in Parliament, Mr. Appalanayudu has increased the chances of securing more central funds. The Telugu Desam Party hopes the performance will counter political rivals and provide a strong foundation ahead of the 2029 elections. Party leaders point to his work as an example of service-oriented politics, enhancing the party’s image across north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
