The MNJ Director Who Refuses to Leave the Chair

The Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has instructed the Health Department to relieve Dr. Srinivasulu from the post of Director, MNJ Cancer Hospital, with immediate effect. The order was issued on 26TAugust.Despite the directive, Dr. Srinivasulu has been attending office and discharging duties as Director. Hospital staff and medical fraternity have expressed concern over the delay in implementing the orders.

They questioned why the higher administration in the Health Department has not enforced the relieving instructions. The Andhra Pradesh government has made it clear that Dr. Srinivasulu should be repatriated. The General Administration Department of Andhra Pradesh had earlier written to the Telangana Health Department seeking his return.

Centre’s Rejection of Plea
Earlier, Dr. Srinivasulu had requested the Centre to review the allocation order assigning him to Andhra Pradesh. However, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) rejected the request, stating that the order issued on January 17, 2017, was valid. With the State government issuing relieving orders and the Centre confirming the validity of allocation, officials expected the transition to be completed. However, Dr. Srinivasulu’s continuation in office has drawn criticism from hospital circles, who allege administrative inaction.
