The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a WhatsApp-based service to facilitate temple darshan ticket bookings. The initiative aims to reduce physical queues and simplify access to major temples across the State. Devotees can now book tickets through their smartphones without visiting counters or internet centres. Officials describe the move as part of a broader digital governance strategy.

Dedicated WhatsApp Number
A dedicated WhatsApp number, 9552300009, has been allocated for the service. Users must save the number on their mobile phones and send a “Hi” message to initiate the process. The automated response system then guides them through available services. The platform supports both Telugu and English. Therefore, devotees can select their preferred language for further interaction.

Step-by-Step Booking Process
After initiating contact, users receive a menu of services under the “Mana Mitra” platform. They must select the temple booking option to proceed. Subsequently, a list of participating temples appears on the screen. Once a devotee selects a temple, the system prompts for required details. After submission of personal information and confirmation, the ticket is generated digitally and delivered to the user’s phone.

Coverage of Major Temples
The service includes bookings for several prominent temples in Andhra Pradesh. These include Tirumala, Srisailam, Kanipakam, Annavaram, Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Temple, and Srikalahasti. By integrating multiple temples under a single platform, the government seeks to provide uniform access. Meanwhile, officials state that more temples may be added in phases.

Transparency and Verification
Authorities emphasise that the system collects essential details such as name and age during booking. This measure ensures proper verification at the time of darshan. It also aims to prevent misuse and eliminate middlemen. According to officials, digital records enhance transparency in ticket allocation and reduce irregularities.

Expansion of Citizen Services
In addition to temple bookings, the “Mana Mitra” platform offers various civic services through WhatsApp governance. The initiative reflects the State’s effort to bring government services closer to citizens. By leveraging widely used messaging technology, the administration expects greater outreach and efficiency. Officials indicate that more public services will be integrated into the platform in the coming months.
