Retired IAS officer V N Vishnu has emerged as a key mentor for civil services aspirants in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Without the trappings of corporate coaching centres or high fees, he has focused on disciplined preparation and public service values. His approach has gained attention following the recent Group One results.
Strong Results in Group One
In the latest examination conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, candidates mentored by Mr. Vishnu secured notable success. Out of 31 aspirants guided by him, 11 were selected for Group One services. The outcome has been widely discussed among aspirant circles.
Record of Long Service
Mr. Vishnu served in the undivided Andhra Pradesh and later in Telangana in various administrative roles. He also served as District Collector of Srikakulam. In addition, he is known as the architect of the Mee Seva public service delivery system. After retirement, he continued to engage with governance through mentorship.
A Decade of Mentorship
Since 2013, Mr. Vishnu has guided aspirants preparing for civil services and state-level competitive examinations. Over the past decade, around 50 candidates under his mentorship have entered the IAS, IPS, and other civil services. On average, at least five aspirants qualify each year, reflecting a sustained record.
Free and Inclusive Training
A defining feature of his initiative is that the guidance is provided free of cost. He does not charge any fees from candidates. Therefore, students from economically weaker backgrounds have been able to access quality mentorship that is otherwise costly.
Selected Candidates
Among the recent Group One selections, Yadarshan Suresh was selected as Deputy Collector. Krishnaveni and Vaishnavi secured posts as Assistant Commissioners of Commercial Taxes. In addition, Shivanaga Gauri, Omkar Venkata Nageswara Rao, and Madhu Charan were selected as Deputy Superintendents of Police.

Mr. Vishnu stresses integrity, discipline, and service orientation alongside academic preparation. According to aspirants, this approach helps them remain focused during long preparation periods. Meanwhile, it also aligns them with the ethical demands of public service.

The success of candidates mentored by Mr. Vishnu has generated optimism among future aspirants. It reinforces the view that structured guidance and commitment can offset financial limitations. Therefore, his work continues to serve as a reference point for aspirants seeking a credible and accessible path into civil services.
