Mahaveer ‘s Inspection Leak Allegations

Article Today, Hyderabad:
In a development that has raised serious concerns about regulatory integrity, Mahaveer Private Medical College in Vikarabad has reportedly received prior information about a scheduled inspection by the National Medical Commission (NMC), set to be conducted on Thursday and Friday. What should have been a surprise inspection appears to have been compromised, with the college management allegedly making hasty preparations to present a compliant facade.

Management Prepares in Advance
Sources suggest that the management of Mahaveer Medical College was alerted well in advance regarding the NMC inspection dates. As soon as the information was leaked, the administration swung into swift action. Department heads, who reportedly exist only on paper in the institution’s official records, were summoned urgently to the campus. The management, it is alleged, communicated the inspection details through WhatsApp groups, directing the absent faculty to report to the college immediately.

Fake Patients to Fill Out Clinics
Insiders reveal that the college does not maintain regular outpatient services as per the mandated norms, nor does it have the required number of full-time faculty and departmental heads in place. In a bid to showcase adequate patient inflow during the inspection, the management allegedly planned to bring in fake patients using arranged lorries. Reports indicate that the institution made logistical arrangements not just to transport these staged patients but also to temporarily display necessary equipment and personnel, sourced from outside, to meet the inspection criteria.

Allegations of Collusion Surface
The fact that the inspection schedule was leaked in advance has led to serious allegations of collusion between NMC officials and the college management. Students and staff are questioning how such sensitive information reached the college beforehand. This has led to speculation that some officials may have been influenced or managed by the college’s administration.

Three years ago, Mahaveer Medical College faced a similar inspection, during which numerous deficiencies were reportedly identified, resulting in the cancellation of admissions for that academic year. Despite this, students allege that the management has failed to rectify its shortcomings and continues to function in the same questionable manner.

Student Frustration Grows
Undergraduate and postgraduate students at the college have expressed deep frustration and helplessness over the current situation. Many are questioning the accountability of the NMC and are concerned about the credibility of their own medical education. They feel trapped in an institution where regulatory checks can be potentially manipulated, and where systemic issues remain unaddressed.

The incident has once again cast a spotlight on the regulatory loopholes and the pressing need for stringent, surprise inspections to ensure that medical institutions meet the required standards, not just on paper, but in practice.
