- Lobbying Row Shakes State Unit
- Internal Rifts Come Exposed
- Disciplinary Action Announced
Article Today, Hyderabad:
The Communist Party of India (CPM) has formally reprimanded senior leader Tammineni Veerabhadram. The decision was taken by the party’s Central Committee after reviewing his conduct during his tenure as state secretary in Telangana. The committee said he followed political positions that deviated from the party line. It described the actions as inconsistent with organisational discipline.

Allegations Of Political Deviation
According to the Central Committee, Veerabhadram adopted approaches that did not align with the party’s ideological framework. The leadership noted that internal norms were not adequately upheld. It said such deviations risked weakening the party’s credibility. Therefore, disciplinary measures were deemed necessary to restore organisational balance.
Lobbying During Selection
The controversy centres on the 2024 process to elect a new state secretary in Telangana. The committee observed that the selection process was affected by lobbying. It said discussions that should have built consensus instead led to divisions. Meanwhile, internal consultations reportedly became strained. The leadership stated that this episode exposed structural weaknesses within the state unit.
Factional Concerns Raised
The Central Committee expressed concern over growing factionalism in the Telangana unit. It said efforts by senior leaders, including members of the Polit Bureau, to ensure unity did not succeed. In addition, several state committee members flagged internal disagreements during meetings. The leadership concluded that personal preferences appeared to override collective functioning in some instances.
Response Found Inadequate
Explanations submitted by Veerabhadram and two other leaders were examined. However, the committee found them insufficient. It said the responses lacked self-criticism and clarity. As a result, Veerabhadram has been restricted to attending state secretariat meetings only as an observer. He has been directed to function under the guidance of the state leadership.
Corrective Measures Planned
A detailed four-page letter has been sent to the Telangana state committee outlining the concerns. The matter was discussed at a recent meeting held at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad. The leadership has instructed that the contents be shared with district and branch secretaries. It emphasised that the state secretary must function independently within the framework of party norms.
Meanwhile, the Central Committee indicated that corrective steps will continue under the supervision of the Polit Bureau. The developments underline internal challenges within the Telangana unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), even as the party seeks to maintain organisational discipline and unity.
