Chiranjeevi Steps In to Resolve Tollywood Labour Strike

Article Today, Hyderabad:
Megastar Chiranjeevi has stepped forward to address the ongoing strike by Tollywood workers. The labour unrest, which has stretched into its 15th day, has stalled film shootings across the industry. Producers and unions remain locked in a standoff, prompting the veteran actor to mediate.

Fifteen Days of Protest
The strike began with workers demanding a 30 per cent hike in wages. Producers offered a 25 per cent increase for those earning below ₹2,000. However, the proposal came with conditions that the unions found unacceptable. This rejection deepened the deadlock, leaving the industry in limbo.

Producers Seek Guidance
Amid mounting losses, members of the Active Producers Guild approached Chiranjeevi. They briefed him on the stalemate and sought his help in breaking the impasse. Producer C. Kalyan later told the media that Chiranjeevi assured them of direct talks with the workers. “He wants justice for both sides and is willing to mediate as a senior figure in the industry,” Kalyan said.

Workers Voice Concerns
Union leaders from the Film Federation, including president Anil Vallabhaneni and secretary Ammiraju, also met Chiranjeevi. They explained that producers were ignoring their grievances while imposing harsh terms. According to Anil, the actor listened to representatives from 24 crafts and 72 union members. “We want fairness for workers and producers alike,” he said.

Path Towards Resolution
Workers highlighted issues such as the double call-sheet clause, warning that such terms could harm their livelihood. Chiranjeevi reportedly advised them to approach him directly in case of future disputes. Following his assurance, the unions have suspended their agitation in anticipation of a solution. Producers, meanwhile, convened at the Film Chamber and handed over the responsibility of settlement to the body.

Industry Optimism
With both sides signalling readiness for compromise, industry insiders expect a resolution soon. “A final decision is likely, and normalcy should return to Tollywood,” said producer C. Kalyan. The intervention, many believe, could bring long-awaited relief to the beleaguered film sector.
