Article Today, Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre to halt the Banakacharla project proposed by Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the media, he made it clear that Telangana had already lodged a formal complaint with the central government. If the Centre gives the green signal, the state would approach the judiciary to safeguard its rightful share in the Krishna and Godavari river waters.

Revanth stated that the Telangana government is prepared to discuss all objections previously raised on the Banakacharla project in the Assembly. He reaffirmed the state’s determination to defend its water rights through all possible means.

Support for Farmers Will Continue
Speaking at the ‘Rythu Nestham’ event organised by the Agriculture Department, the Chief Minister said his government will stand firmly with farmers until agriculture becomes a profitable enterprise. Revanth described agriculture as a festival, not a burden. He reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering farmers, stating that every farmer in Telangana should be treated as a king. As part of the Rythu Bharosa scheme, the government deposited ₹9,000 crore into the bank accounts of 70 lakh farmers over the last nine days. The scheme was rolled out on June 16.

Massive Participation in ‘Rythu Nestham’ Event
The Chief Minister attended the state-level Rythu Nestham programme held in front of the Rajiv Gandhi statue near the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat. Farmers participated directly at the venue, while lakhs of others joined virtually from 1,600 Rythu Vedikas across Telangana.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao accompanied the CM. Addressing the gathering, Revanth said ₹12,000 per acre was credited into the accounts of farmers covering 1.4 crore acres of farmland.

Schemes Rooted in Farmer Welfare
Revanth highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving agriculture, including loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa payouts, bonuses for fine variety paddy, free power, drip and sprinkler systems, solar pump sets, and paddy procurement through the Civil Supplies Department. He noted that the state government had spent Rs.1.04 lakh crore on the agriculture sector within just 18 months, underlining its commitment to farmer welfare.

Employment and Youth Development
Referring to the broader developmental agenda, the Chief Minister mentioned that Telangana had filled 60,000 government jobs in its first year in office—something no other state had done. He also announced the upcoming launch of the ‘Rajiv Yuva Vikasam’ scheme aimed at supporting youth through skill and employment programmes.

Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Jupally Krishna Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Chinnareddy, and government advisors Vem Narender Reddy also participated in the event.
