- Farmhouse Raid Uncovers Drugs
Article Today, Hyderabad:
Police in Hyderabad have uncovered an alleged cocaine network during a raid at a farmhouse in Moinabad on the outskirts of the city. The operation exposed what investigators describe as a weekend gathering where drugs were allegedly consumed. Among those under scrutiny is Putta Mahesh Kumar, Eluru MP representing the Telugu Desam Party. Authorities say the discovery has triggered both criminal investigation and political debate.
MP Under Investigation
According to police officials, laboratory tests confirmed the presence of cocaine in samples linked to the MP. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the gathering and the possible role of those present. Meanwhile, officials say the case is being pursued under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The findings have placed the MP at the centre of a widening inquiry.

Questions Over Sample Tests
Investigators also examined allegations that attempts were made to manipulate urine samples during the testing process. Initial results reportedly indicated negative findings. However, subsequent blood tests detected traces of narcotics. Therefore, police are analysing the sequence of tests and the procedures followed during the investigation.
Gunfire During Police Operation
The raid also led to a separate security incident. Police say a man identified as Namit Sharma allegedly fired shots into the air when officers arrived at the farmhouse. Authorities say the weapon used belonged to another individual with a licensed firearm. The incident is now being investigated under arms regulations, in addition to the drug-related charges.
Network Beyond A Party
Meanwhile, investigators believe the case may extend beyond a single gathering. Police suspect that cocaine may have been transported through a network connecting multiple cities. A suspect from Bengaluru is believed to have played a role in the alleged supply chain. Officers say further interrogation and forensic examination are under way to establish the extent of the network.
Multiple Detentions In Case
Police have detained eleven individuals in connection with the incident. Officials say at least six people tested positive for cocaine use during medical examinations. Among them are several individuals associated with the farmhouse event. Authorities say evidence collected so far is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Political Reactions Emerge
The case has also triggered political reactions. The Telugu Desam Party issued a show-cause notice to the MP and asked him to submit a written explanation within five days. Party leaders said further action would depend on the outcome of the investigation. Meanwhile, opposition figures have criticised the incident and called for strict enforcement of drug laws.
Investigation Continues
Therefore, police say the investigation remains active as officers examine digital records, forensic samples, and witness statements. Authorities are also working to identify the supply channels that may have brought narcotics to the farmhouse. The case, which began with a raid on a private gathering, has now evolved into a broader inquiry into drugs, politics, and accountability.
