Article Today, Hyderabad:

Authorities in Telangana say 130 Maoist cadres have surrendered and returned to civilian life. Police confirmed that the group laid down arms and handed weapons to security forces. Officials say the development reflects a steady decline of armed insurgency in the region.

Composition Of The Group
Among those who surrendered are several senior members of the Maoist organisation. Police identified three state committee members, one regional committee member, ten divisional committee members, forty six area committee members, and seventy party cadres. Security agencies say such large scale surrenders indicate weakening operational strength within the movement.

Government Rehabilitation Measures
Meanwhile, the Telangana government says it will focus on rehabilitation and reintegration. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that dialogue remains the preferred approach for resolving conflict. The government has promised housing assistance under the Indiramma housing scheme and access to medical services. Officials also said pending legal cases will be reviewed within the limits of the law.

Appeal To Remaining Leaders
In addition, the state government has called on remaining Maoist leaders to surrender. Officials specifically urged senior leader Ganapathi and other underground members to join the mainstream. Police sources say only a small number of armed cadres are still believed to be active in the state.

CPM Internal Disciplinary Action
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India Marxist is facing an internal controversy. The party’s central leadership has reportedly issued a reprimand to senior leader Tammineni Veerabhadram. The leadership said certain political positions taken during his tenure as state secretary were inconsistent with party discipline.

Reduced Role In Party Meetings
According to party sources, Veerabhadram will now attend state secretariat meetings only as an observer. The central leadership has directed that he function under the guidance of the current state secretariat. Observers say the decision effectively reduces his influence within the state party structure.

Leadership Changes In Party
The developments come as the party undergoes organisational changes at the national level. Senior leader M A Baby recently assumed the role of national general secretary. Party members say the leadership is emphasising organisational discipline and internal restructuring. Therefore, recent actions in the Telangana unit are being viewed within the broader context of party reforms.
