Senior journalist Ireddy Srinivas Reddy has been appointed as the Chairman of the Assembly Media Advisory Council. The appointment was officially notified on Friday by Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, marking a significant move to strengthen the interface between the legislature and the media.
A Seasoned Journalist Takes the Lead
Srinivas Reddy currently serves as the Political Editor of The New Indian Express. He brings with him over 16 years of experience in political journalism. Over the years, he has worked with leading publications such as Andhra Jyothi, Sakshi, and Deccan Chronicle, holding key editorial roles. According to the Speaker’s order, he will serve as chairman for a two-year term.
Council to Act as Bridge Between Assembly and Media
The Media Advisory Council has been constituted with a total of 15 members. Its primary role will be to facilitate smooth coordination between the state Assembly and media organisations. The council will offer guidance on media-related issues concerning legislative proceedings and public communication.

Alongside the appointment of Srinivas Reddy as Chairman, the Speaker also named Poloju Paripoornachari as Co-chairman of the council. The council includes senior journalists and media professionals with vast experience in reporting on governance and public affairs.



Among the appointed members are Ayitharaju Rangarao, Bodlapati Poornachandra Rao, L. Venkataram Reddy, Polampalli Anjaneyulu, M. Pawan Kumar, Bheemanapalli Ashok, B. Anjaneyulu Goud, Surekha Abburi, Mohammad Naiem Vajahat, Basavapunnaiah, Pramod Kumar Chaturvedi, Sunchu Ashok, and BHMK Gandhi.

This council is expected to enhance transparency and improve media access to legislative information. It will function as an advisory body, providing suggestions to ensure responsible and effective media coverage of Assembly proceedings. The Speaker expressed hope that the council will play a constructive role in bridging gaps between lawmakers and the press.
