Article Today, Hyderabad
Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has taken a serious stand on the alleged irregularities in the Oilfed organization. Recently, a series of reports in Sahanam Vande and Article Today digital newspapers highlighted corruption within Oilfed. Responding quickly, the minister conducted a surprise inspection at the Oilfed headquarters in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Minister’s Surprise Visit Creates Tension
During his sudden visit, the minister questioned several officials regarding their involvement in the reported irregularities. Reliable sources said that the minister specifically enquired about some officers’ questionable roles. He reportedly instructed the officials to thoroughly investigate those involved in the corruption and take strict action. It is said that the minister questioned why Tirumaleshwar Reddy is handling four departments at once.
Focus on Narmetta Factory Construction
Minister Tummala also held a review meeting during the visit. He directed the officials to speed up the construction of the Narmetta Oil Palm Factory in Siddipet district and complete the work by July. He emphasized that Oilfed should work efficiently to strengthen the organization financially and ensure maximum benefits reach the farmers. The minister reminded the team to work in perfect coordination for the progress of the organization and the welfare of the farmers.
Review of New ED and OSD Responsibilities
The minister took time to understand the daily duties of the newly appointed Executive Director (ED) and Officers on Special Duty (OSD). However, there were some internal concerns that the appointments of the new officials have reduced the responsibilities of some existing officers.
Strict Orders on Oil Palm Nursery Monitoring
Minister Tummala also issued strict instructions regarding the monitoring of Oil Palm nurseries. He stressed that the nursery plants should be properly identified and managed right from the nursery level. He advised continuous supervision by the concerned officers. The minister set a target for Oilfed to promote Oil Palm cultivation across 5 lakh acres in the state.
Key Officials Present, MD’s Absence Raises Eyebrows
The review meeting was attended by Oilfed Chairman Janga Raghava Reddy, ED Prashanth Kumar, OSD Kiran Kumar, General Manager Sudhakar Reddy, Project Manager Srikanth Reddy, HR Manager Satyanarayana, and other officials. However, the absence of Managing Director Yasmin Basha during this important inspection became a talking point. It was also noted that Tirumaleshwar Reddy, who currently manages four departments, was not present at that time.
