Journalists Condemn Police Action, Protests Erupt in Telugu States
Widespread protests are erupting across the Telugu states against the actions of Andhra Pradesh police towards Sakshi Editor R. Dhanunjay Reddy three days ago. Journalists from Sakshi and other media outlets are strongly condemning the incident. Large-scale demonstrations have taken place in all districts of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Sakshi Media is vehemently alleging that vindictive actions against their organization are continuing. According to Sakshi sources, police forcibly entered Dhanunjay Reddy’s residence in Vijayawada without showing any search warrant and allegedly intimidated his family members. Many are criticizing this action as an attack on the freedom of the press.

Raids Conducted Without Apparent Cause
During the police raids that lasted for several hours, Dhanunjay Reddy and his family members reportedly faced significant distress. Sources indicate that his personal computers, laptops, and mobile phones were confiscated. However, Sakshi sources state that the police did not clearly disclose the reasons for these raids. In this context, the management of Sakshi alleges that these actions are a direct consequence of their organization questioning the policies of the Andhra Pradesh government and strongly voicing the concerns of the opposition. They also recalled previous instances of raids on Sakshi offices and the alleged harassment of their employees.

Sakshi Prepares for Legal Battle… Media Association Condemns Action
In response to these developments, Sakshi Media is preparing for a legal battle. Sakshi’s legal representatives assert that forcibly entering a residence and intimidating family members without a search warrant is completely illegal. They are reportedly making arrangements to approach the higher courts regarding this issue. Meanwhile, democrats are expressing serious concern over the incident. The South India Media Association (SIMA) has strongly condemned the police actions, stating that it is a severe infringement on the freedom of the press and an abuse of power by the government. SIMA President Ravi and General Secretary Srinivas released a statement on Saturday urging against vindictive actions towards journalists.
