- Discontent over denial of minister posts sparks resignations and protests in Congress
- Tensions Rise over Cabinet Posts
Article Today, Hyderabad:
The recent Telangana cabinet expansion by the Congress has triggered serious discontent among Reddy community leaders. Several Reddy MLAs are upset as they were denied ministerial berths, while Bahujan leaders secured key positions. Senior MLAs like Sudarshan Reddy, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, and Mal Reddy Ranga Reddy are reportedly expressing their anger over the issue.
Protests and Resignations in Bodhan
In Bodhan, the followers of Sudarshan Reddy have begun protesting against the Congress leadership. Some local leaders have even submitted their resignations from the party, expressing disappointment that Sudarshan Reddy was not included in the cabinet. They have called for a bandh (shutdown) in Bodhan to intensify their protest. Reports suggest that resignation letters have been sent to PCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud.
Reddy Leaders Go Silent
Mungode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who was expecting a cabinet post, has reportedly switched off his phone and gone silent. Similarly, Ibrahimpatnam MLA Mal Reddy Ranga Reddy is also unhappy about missing out on a ministerial berth. Sources say that both leaders are seriously considering resigning from their positions. Senior Congress leaders, including PCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, are trying to convince them to stay in the party.
Bahujan Leaders Get Their Chance
The cabinet expansion provided ministerial positions to Bahujan leaders like Gaddam Vivek, Adluri Laxman, and Vakiti Srihari. This move by the Congress high command has created heartburn among Reddy leaders, who feel sidelined. Bahujan leaders, however, are questioning the Reddy dominance in Telangana politics, pointing out that despite their community’s smaller population, Reddys already hold key posts, including the Chief Minister’s position.
Rifts Threaten Party Unity
Political analysts warn that this internal crisis could harm Congress party unity in Telangana. The aggressive reactions from Reddy leaders over cabinet allocations have sparked frustration among SC and BC leaders, who believe that the party’s slogans of caste census and social justice are being challenged by upper-caste resistance.
CM Revanth Reddy Takes a Firm Stand
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly expressed his displeasure over the rebellious attitude of some Reddy leaders. He has made it clear that cabinet positions were decided based on social balance and party strategy. According to sources, Revanth Reddy firmly told party colleagues that everyone must respect these decisions and if anyone cannot accept it, the party is ready to move on without them.
