Rahul’s Bih(w)ar – Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar

Article Today, Patna:
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a statewide march in Bihar on Sunday, calling it the Voter Adhikar Yatra. The campaign will cover nearly 1,300 km across the state and will conclude with a massive public rally in Patna on September 1. Through this Campaign, Mr. Gandhi seeks to highlight what the party terms an “assault on voting rights” under the guise of electoral roll revision.

Exposing Electoral Irregularities
Congress has accused certain officials and political forces of manipulating the ongoing special revision of voter lists in Bihar. According to the party, these practices deny legitimate citizens their right to vote. Mr. Gandhi’s Yatra aims to alert the public and build awareness on the issue. Senior leaders said that protecting the right to vote is essential for the survival of democracy and must remain the responsibility of every citizen.

Connecting with People
During the yatra, Mr. Gandhi will travel through several districts and hold direct conversations with local residents. He will listen to their grievances and bring to light irregularities in the voter list review. Party leaders believe that the march will amplify people’s voices and push authorities to act. They also see it as a step to strengthen democratic institutions at the grassroots level.

Political Dimension
Political observers note that the march has wider implications. It is not only about electoral reforms but also about rejuvenating the Congress in Bihar. By engaging directly with people, Mr. Gandhi hopes to energise the party cadre. Analysts say the march could influence voter sentiment ahead of future elections and serve as a test of the Congress leader’s ability to mobilise mass support.

National Leaders to Join
The Congress is treating the yatra as a prestige campaign. Several senior leaders and Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states are expected to join parts of the journey. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is likely to walk alongside Mr. Gandhi for a day or two, signalling the party’s collective push to highlight electoral malpractice nationwide.
