Oracle’s Ellison Overtakes Musk as World’s Richest Man

Article Today, America:
Elon Musk has lost his position as the world’s wealthiest individual. Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison has overtaken him after a surge in Oracle’s market value driven by artificial intelligence demand. The latest financial results revealed significant gains, placing Mr. Ellison at the top of global wealth charts.

Strong Earnings Report
Oracle released its quarterly earnings on Tuesday evening, surprising markets with robust performance. Heavy demand from artificial intelligence firms lifted Oracle’s share price by nearly 40 percent in a single day. Chief Executive Safra Catz announced that the company had secured contracts worth four billion dollars during the quarter. As a result, Mr. Ellison’s wealth rose to 3.93 billion dollars, surpassing Mr. Musk, whose net worth slipped to 3.85 billion dollars. Notably, Mr. Ellison’s one-day wealth increase of 101 billion dollars marked the largest single-day rise on record.

AI-Driven Growth
Oracle has become a key player in providing cloud services and database software essential for artificial intelligence applications. The company supplies vast computing power to leading AI firms. In July, Oracle signed a major agreement with OpenAI to provide 4.5 gigawatts of power, further boosting investor confidence. Oracle’s shares have gained 103 percent this year, pushing its market capitalisation to seven trillion dollars. The company is now emerging as a strong competitor to technology leaders such as Nvidia and Microsoft.

Ellison’s Rise to Prominence
Mr. Ellison, 81, once a college dropout, has built a career marked by sharp turns and major acquisitions. He owns most of Hawaii’s Lanai island and played a key role in reviving the Indian Wells tennis tournament in California. Known for his close ties with former U.S. President Donald Trump, he was also linked to TikTok’s attempted acquisition, though the deal did not materialise.

Shifting Financial Landscape
The reversal of fortunes between Mr. Musk and Mr. Ellison reflects the changing dynamics of global technology and wealth. With AI reshaping markets, Oracle has gained new relevance, while Tesla and SpaceX face volatile valuations. Analysts note that the contest for financial dominance is far from settled.
