Floating Sports Grounds Planned at Hussainsagar

Article Today, Hyderabad:
The Telangana government has announced plans to set up floating sports grounds on Hussainsagar Lake. Officials said the move would give Hyderabad residents a rare opportunity to play football and box cricket on water. The project, once implemented, is expected to strengthen the city’s profile as an international tourism hub.

Tourism Push Through New Projects
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is preparing detailed plans for tourism development around the lake. The government has also cleared a proposal for constructing an artificial beach on 35 acres at Kotwal Guda, at an estimated cost of Rs. 225 crore. Work on this project is scheduled to begin in December. In addition, several new projects are being lined up to attract visitors and enhance recreational infrastructure around Hussainsagar.

Skywalk for Better Connectivity
As part of the larger development plan, the government has also proposed a 10.5-km skywalk. The elevated walkway will link Khairatabad metro station with Necklace Road, Sanjeevaiah Park, Tank Bund, NTR Garden, and Prasads Imax. Officials stated that the skywalk would enable tourists to move across these areas without traffic disruptions.

Officials Optimistic
Authorities expressed confidence that the combination of floating sports grounds, the artificial beach, and the skywalk would significantly boost the city’s tourism sector. They noted that these measures would bring Hyderabad closer to international standards of urban leisure infrastructure.
