Doctor Trapped by Fake Swamiji

Loses Rs. 5 Crore to Spiritual Scam

In a shocking case from Hyderabad, a respected and wealthy private doctor fell victim to a self-proclaimed godman who used emotional manipulation and spiritual lies to defraud him. The conman, identified as Shiva Swamy from Uppal, convinced the doctor that they were siblings in a past life and promised him fame, fortune, and even a Nobel Prize in the future — if only he followed his spiritual guidance.

‘You’re Destined for a Miracle Medicine’
Swamy played a well-scripted psychological game. He told the doctor that he wasn’t an ordinary person, but someone chosen to discover a miraculous medicine capable of curing all future diseases — including deadly viruses like COVID-19. He said that this invention would bring him global recognition, unimaginable wealth, and even a Nobel Prize. Taken in by the promises, the doctor began believing Swamy’s every word and surrendered completely to him.

Emotional Bond and Complete Control…
Shiva Swamy deepened his influence by claiming they were brothers in a previous birth and rulers of a foreign kingdom. This triggered an emotional connection in the doctor, who began treating Swamy like family. Soon, the doctor’s entire family — including his wife, children, and even his younger brother, a renowned doctor himself — fell under Swamy’s spell.

Money Laundered in the Name of Rituals
Under the guise of performing sacred rituals (yagnas and poojas), Swamy siphoned off nearly Rs. 5 crore from the doctor’s family. The doctor’s brother revealed that Swamy regularly performed ceremonies at their home, demanded expensive offerings, and even took control of important property documents. He reportedly forced the doctor to sell assets to meet his ever-increasing demands.

Family Silenced by Fear and Shame…
Despite knowing they were being exploited, the doctor’s family struggled to break free. The brother said they wanted to take legal action but were stopped by the doctor himself, who remained loyal to Swamy. Fearing public humiliation and social disgrace, the family chose to stay silent — even as Swamy continued attending their personal events and intimidating relatives with talk of spiritual curses.

Another Victim: Woman Lecturer Cheated
Swamy’s manipulation didn’t end there. In a separate incident, he targeted a woman lecturer at a junior college who had lost her husband and was going through a tough time. Posing as a spiritual healer, he convinced her that her home was cursed and had caused her husband’s death. He collected ₹1.7 lakh and 20 tolas of gold, saying he needed them for special prayers at the Kanaka Durga temple.

Fear and Fraud: A Pattern Emerges
Swamy even scared the lecturer by claiming that a temple priest had died during the rituals and pressured her into handing over her house documents. Like the doctor’s family, she was emotionally vulnerable — and Swamy exploited that weakness with precision. With multiple victims and a pattern of fraud, Shiva Swamy appears to be a serial manipulator operating under the mask of spirituality.

The Need for Legal Action
Both families now regret not acting sooner but say they felt helpless due to emotional blackmail and fear of public shame. With mounting evidence and multiple victims, calls are growing louder for law enforcement to take strict action against Shiva Swamy — before more innocent people fall into his trap.
