- Irregularities in PhD Admissions
- SFI Demands Immediate Action
Article Today, Hyderabad:
The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) in Telangana has launched a strong protest against the significant delays plaguing degree examinations across several state universities. The student body is urgently demanding the immediate conduct of these crucial exams, asserting that the academic futures of students must not be held hostage by disputes between the government and educational institutions. Furthermore, SFI is insisting on the swift release of pending fee reimbursements and scholarships, imploring the Telangana State Council of Higher Education to intervene decisively and resolve the escalating crisis. Adding to their concerns, the organization has raised serious allegations of irregularities in PhD admissions at Telugu University, calling for a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure fair processes. These pressing demands were formally conveyed in a petition submitted to Professor V. Balakishan Reddy, Chairman of the Higher Education Council, by SFI State President S. Rajanikant and State Secretary T. Nagaraju.
Unpaid Government Dues…
The student federation underscored that the government’s persistent failure to release scholarship funds and fee reimbursements has compelled private college managements to withhold their cooperation in conducting the degree examinations. With no positive response forthcoming from the government, these colleges have reportedly declared their inability to proceed with the essential assessments. SFI warns that this deadlock is inflicting severe hardship on underprivileged students’ access to continued education. A staggering 4.80 lakh students are enrolled across the five affected universities, with over one lakh in their crucial final year. Any further protraction of these examinations carries the potential to irrevocably damage their academic progress and future opportunities.
PhD Admission Irregularities…
Beyond the widespread exam delays, SFI has brought forth serious accusations concerning alleged irregularities in the recent PhD admissions at Telugu University. The organization contends that ineligible candidates, including serving government employees, were improperly granted full-time PhD seats. SFI is resolutely demanding an immediate and impartial inquiry into these alleged malpractices, urging the university administration to take swift action to rectify the situation and guarantee a transparent and equitable admission process for all genuinely eligible candidates. State Vice-President of SFI, Ashok Reddy, was also present during the submission of the petition.
