CPI Leader Narayana Sharp Attack on Pawan Kalyan

  • Questioned him on Sanatana Dharma
  • Critical Remarks at Party Meet

Article Today, Ongole:
CPI national secretary K. Narayana made strong remarks against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor-politician Pawan Kalyan during the party’s State conference in Ongole on Monday. He criticised Mr. Kalyan’s comments on Sanatana Dharma and questioned the consistency between his statements and his personal life.

Question on Personal Life
Mr. Narayana referred to Mr. Kalyan’s three marriages and asked whether such practices could be considered part of Sanatana Dharma. He also mentioned the actor’s former and current spouses, alleging a mismatch between his advocacy of religious traditions and his own choices.

Reference to Sati Practice
Continuing his criticism, Mr. Narayana raised the issue of the abolished practice of sati. He provocatively asked whether Mr. Kalyan’s wife would follow such a ritual if he died. He cited British-era reforms that outlawed the practice, accusing Mr. Kalyan of using religion for political ends. The CPI leader also remarked that “even animals have policies” while alleging that the Deputy Chief Minister lacked consistency.

Backlash from Jana Sena Supporters
These comments triggered sharp reactions from Mr. Kalyan’s supporters. Many expressed outrage on social media and accused the CPI leader of crossing limits by making personal attacks. The controversy has added to the already charged political atmosphere in the State.

Allegations of Inconsistency
Mr. Narayana further described Mr. Kalyan as inconsistent in his political stance. According to him, Mr. Kalyan shifted positions frequently—praising revolutionary icons at one moment, speaking of religious traditions at another, and later projecting ascetic practices. He labelled him a “buffoon” and accused him of opportunistic politics.

NDA Alliance Questioned
The CPI leader also criticised Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Kalyan for joining hands with the BJP-Led NDA. He recalled that Mr. Naidu had earlier faced political setbacks due to the BJP and said it was surprising to see him align with the same party again.
