Article Today, Guntur:
Serious allegations of corruption have surfaced at Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University. A senior professor has lodged a formal complaint with the Governor, accusing the in-charge Vice-Chancellor of large-scale irregularities and financial mismanagement. The complaint alleged that the administration ignored statutory bodies and bypassed governance procedures for nearly two years.
Irregular Drawal of Funds
According to the complaint, about ₹500 crore was drawn without the approval of the finance committee. The professor alleged that the funds were diverted under the pretext of civil works, with contractors forced to make large payments to secure projects. The absence of proper oversight, the complaint claimed, has raised serious doubts about the university’s financial management.
Transfers for Bribes
The complaint also alleged that staff transfers had turned into a source of corruption. Prime postings were allegedly offered in exchange for money, gold, and expensive gifts. It further stated that the Vice-Chancellor had invested bribe money to build a house in Kurnool. In addition, the complainant claimed that those who raised objections were threatened with suicide remarks, creating fear within the institution.
Neglect of Statutory Obligations
The professor alleged that the Vice-Chancellor failed to inform the Governor about official tours, in violation of norms. Such disregard for protocol, coupled with threats and irregularities, was described as undermining both transparency and accountability in the university’s administration.
Call for Probe
The complainant requested the Governor to remove the in-charge Vice-Chancellor and order an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Vigilance, and Enforcement Directorate. Allegations of irregular transfers, misuse of funds, and questionable spending on vehicles have cast a shadow on the university’s functioning. Observers note that the government’s response to these charges will determine the course of governance in the institution. The call for an impartial probe has gained urgency amid growing concerns over misuse of public funds.
