After Murder, Husband Takes Wife’s Body to Police Station

A shocking murder was reported from Santamaguluru area of Bapatla district after a man allegedly killed his wife and surrendered at a police station with her body. The incident caused panic among residents and stunned police officials when the accused arrived on a motorcycle carrying the deceased.

Accused Admits Killing
Police identified the accused as Venkateswarlu, a resident of Elchuru in Bapatla district. He allegedly strangled his wife Mahalakshmi to death and then rode to the Santamaguluru police station to surrender. Officers immediately took him into custody and secured the body.

Marital Discord Precedes Crime
According to preliminary inquiries, the couple had married for love and had two young children. However, they had been facing marital disputes for some time. Mahalakshmi had been staying at her parental home due to ongoing disagreements. Investigators believe these tensions preceded the crime.

Lured on False Pretext
Meanwhile, police stated that the accused allegedly persuaded his wife to accompany him on the promise of giving her gold. He reportedly took her to a secluded area on the outskirts of the village, where the murder was committed. The sequence suggests the act was not impulsive, but planned.

Police Begin Investigation
Following the surrender, police sent the body for post mortem examination. A case of murder has been registered, and further investigation is underway to establish motive and circumstances. In addition, officers are verifying whether any prior complaints were filed between the couple. Authorities said legal action would follow as per law.
