Vijayanagaram district is witnessing visible changes in its development landscape. Over the last 18 months, several long-pending infrastructure projects have moved from planning to execution. Coordination between the Member of Parliament Kalisetti Appalanaidu and local legislators has played a key role in this shift. As a result, projects delayed for years have gained momentum.
Airport as Growth Driver
Meanwhile, works on the Bhogapuram international airport in Nellimarla constituency are progressing at a rapid pace. The project has reached an advanced stage after a recent trial flight landing. Regular monitoring by the MP has helped address administrative and technical bottlenecks. Officials expect the airport to emerge as a major employment generator for the region once operational.
Railway Bridge Milestone
In addition, the long-awaited Cheepurupalli railway overbridge has moved close to completion. The project, which connects travel routes across four districts, remained pending for nearly four years. However, within 18 months, about 80 per cent of the construction has been completed. Continuous coordination with Railway authorities ensured steady progress without major delays.
Flyover Work Resumes
Similarly, the Manapuram flyover in Gajapathinagaram constituency has seen renewed activity after nearly a decade of stagnation. Construction hurdles were resolved through sustained engagement with officials. Once completed, the flyover is expected to improve connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It will also ease the movement of agricultural and industrial goods.
Highway Congestion Addressed
At Ranastalam in Etcherla constituency, work on the proposed national highway flyover has also gathered pace. The project remained confined to files for years. However, following consultations with National Highways officials, construction has begun in earnest. Therefore, traffic congestion and accident risks at the junction are expected to reduce significantly.
Focus on Execution
Observers note that the emphasis has been on execution rather than announcements. The MP has focused on taking local issues to both State and Central authorities. In addition, regular field-level reviews have ensured quality and timely completion of works.

Consequently, residents across the district have expressed satisfaction over the visible progress. Many see the completion of decade-old pending projects as a turning point. With multiple infrastructure works advancing simultaneously, Vijayanagaram appears firmly set on a sustained development path.
