Group-1 Rankers Question the Government’s Silence
Article Today, Hyderabad: The Group-1 rankers of Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) have voiced their frustration over the prolonged delay in the recruitment process. They said that the uncertainty is pushing them and their families into serious financial and mental stress. On Sunday, candidates Nishant, Abhinav, Ranjith, and others shared their concerns with the media, urging the government to act swiftly.
A Journey Marked by Setbacks
The Group-1 recruitment process began in April 2022. Since then, candidates have faced a series of hurdles. The preliminary examination was conducted twice, but the old notification was later cancelled. TSPSC issued a fresh notification in February 2024. Finally, the mains examination was held successfully in October 2023. By March 30 this year, the General Ranking List (GRL) was released, and certificate verification and medical tests were completed.
Candidates believed they were only steps away from appointment. Their families celebrated, thinking their children would soon serve as Group-1 officers. However, the unexpected halt in appointments has left them shocked and disappointed.
Long Wait Brings Financial Struggles
Candidates explained that the delay has caused them severe financial hardship. Many have spent years preparing for the Group-1 examination, one of the most prestigious in the state. Several rankers, especially those from poor and middle-class families, now face mounting debts.
Some candidates had even resigned from their earlier jobs, trusting that their Group-1 appointments would arrive soon. This has pushed them into professional uncertainty. They now feel they are losing valuable time, career stability, and age advantage. Families that once rejoiced are now battling anxiety. The candidates said their parents, friends, and well-wishers are deeply disturbed by the continued delay. The waiting period has not only tested their patience but also affected the emotional well-being of their families.
Governance Faces Setback
The rankers stressed that Group-1 officers play a vital role in state administration. Any delay in their recruitment, they said, can adversely affect governance. They urged the authorities to recognise the administrative impact of such prolonged gaps.
Further, the rankers warned that recruitment delays could discourage aspirants preparing for future notifications. They said it might create a sense of hopelessness among unemployed youth in the state. The candidates appealed to the government to expedite the process and honour the aspirations of thousands who have worked hard to serve Telangana.
