Most People in India haven’t tried AI, even though they Want It. A new study by Google and Kantar looked at what people in India think about Artificial Intelligence (AI). They talked to over 8,000 people in 18 cities about AI tools like Google Gemini. The study found that even though a lot of people are excited about AI, most haven’t actually used it. About 6 out of 10 people (60%) said they don’t know much about AI, and only about 3 out of 10 (31%) have tried any AI tools. This means there’s a big chance for more people to start using AI in the future.

People Want AI to Help Them…
The study also found that many people in India want AI to help them make their lives better. They want AI to help them get more things done (72%), be more creative (77%), and talk to people better (73%). Lots of people also want AI to help with everyday things like planning trips (76%) or coming up with fun ideas for cooking or helping their kids with homework (84%). In fact, 75% of people in India wish they had an AI tool to help them do better every single day.

AI Can Help Solve Daily Problems…
The study showed that people in India face problems that stop them from doing their best. For example, many find it hard to get started on tasks (68%). Others feel like they don’t have the right skills or help (52%). Sadly, some people have even given up on their dreams because of these problems (61%). Also, many worry about how they sound when they talk to others (73%), find it hard to plan trips (67%), and struggle to try new recipes (71%).

Google Gemini is Helping People…
People who are using Google Gemini are seeing some really good changes. A lot of them (92%) feel more sure of themselves, especially young people, students, and women. Also, many (93%) say Gemini helps them work faster, come up with new ideas (85%), and talk to people more clearly (94%). Gemini helps with things like explaining hard topics, giving step-by-step instructions, and helping people think of creative ideas. For example, a teacher is using Gemini to make lesson plans more quickly, a student is getting ready for job interviews, and a parent is finding fun ideas for homework. These stories show that AI can help people in different parts of India and in different situations.

AI’s Future Looks Bright in India
Google is working on making AI even better for everyone. With new tools like Gemini Live for easy chats, Veo 2 for making videos, and Deep Research for finding information online, Google wants AI to be a helpful friend for everyone. As more people in India start to try AI, tools like Gemini could help them solve their problems and reach their goals.
