Article Today, Amaravati:
The political scene in Andhra Pradesh is abuzz with speculation — will Mega Brother Nagababu become a minister or not? Though Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu himself had earlier promised a cabinet position to Nagababu, it now appears that he is not showing much interest in fulfilling that assurance. Sources suggest that Naidu is reluctant to include both the Mega brothers — Pawan Kalyan and Nagababu — in the state cabinet.
CM’s Reluctance and Internal Pressure
It is being said that CM Naidu is uncomfortable with the idea of having two brothers from the same family — especially from the film background — in powerful cabinet roles. There are even comments that Pawan Kalyan’s glamour is already overshadowing Minister Lokesh. If Nagababu also joins the cabinet, it could further affect Lokesh’s image and influence. The fear is that having both Mega brothers in the cabinet might shift the political balance in the coalition. Hence, discussions are ongoing to offer Nagababu a different key post instead of a cabinet ministry.
One Year of Government, Talks on Expansion
As the TDP-Jana Sena coalition completes its first year in power, talks about cabinet expansion are gaining momentum. In this backdrop, whether Nagababu will be made a minister has become a hot topic. Though Nagababu has already been elected as an MLC, there is still no clarity on when or if he will get a ministerial post. Currently, there is one cabinet position vacant, and some leaders are suggesting that it be given to Nagababu. However, internal political strategies and Jana Sena’s caste representation plans are playing a big role in delaying the decision.
Caste Equations Creating Confusion
At present, Jana Sena already has two ministers from the same community. There is growing concern within the coalition that if Nagababu — who also belongs to the same caste — is given a cabinet post, the social balance in the ministry will be affected. As a result, another name being considered is senior Jana Sena leader Konathala Ramakrishna from Visakhapatnam, who belongs to a different community.
At the same time, if Nagababu is denied a ministerial role, it could upset Jana Sena supporters and the large fanbase of the Mega family. To avoid backlash, there is speculation that Nagababu may be offered an important nominated post instead. Many in the alliance believe he deserves a respectable position, especiallyconsidering he gave up the Anakapalli MP ticket and even a Rajya Sabha seat during the 2024 elections for the sake of party strategy.
Pawan Kalyan Firm on His Brother’s Role
Deputy CM and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is said to be strongly pushing for his brother Nagababu to be included in the cabinet. While the TDP leadership is hesitant, the pressure from within the coalition is building. It remains to be seen how the final decision unfolds — whether Nagababu gets a cabinet berth or is assigned another key role. Either way, this issue is sure to impact the political equations within the state government in the days to come.
