Strict Action on Theatres, Food Prices under Scrutiny

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is openly expressing his anger against those in the film industry who he believes are not respecting the new coalition government. Particularly, he seems upset with people trying to create hurdles for his film’s release. Taking a strong stand, Pawan has shown that those who oppose him will face consequences.

Government Crackdown on Theatre Conditions and Food Pricing…
On Tuesday, he issued important orders demanding inspections in movie theatres across the state. He instructed officials to look into the basic facilities provided in theatres, the availability and pricing of bottled water and food items. Following his directive, government officials including RDOs, MROs, police, and fire department personnel launched surprise checks on theatres.

Widespread Inspections Begin Across Andhra Pradesh…
In places like Kakinada, especially at Chanakya and Chandragupta theatres, officials conducted inspections. Similar checks were also held in Pedapudi, Kajuluru, Tallarevu, Karapa, and Kakinada Rural theatres. The inspections are expected to expand across all theatres in Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan’s Meeting with Cinematography Minister…
Pawan Kalyan recently held a detailed meeting with State Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh, discussing the shutdown of theatres and various issues facing the film industry. The conversation reportedly focused on long-term solutions and regulation of the industry.

Dil Raju supporting Pawan’s Stand on Theatre Reforms…
Popular film producer Dil Raju released a press note in support of Pawan Kalyan’s efforts to bring common moviegoers back to the theatres. He welcomed the Deputy CM’s opinion that food and beverages in theatres should be affordable for everyone. Dil Raju said the entire industry should stand united and work towards improving the movie-watching experience.

Concerns Over OTT Releases and Audience Shift…
He also pointed out that with films quickly shifting from theatres to OTT platforms, viewers are now preferring to watch movies at home. To address this, he suggested that the industry must jointly decide how long a film should run in theatres before moving to OTT.

Call for Unity and Structured Dialogue with Government…
Dil Raju emphasized that it’s the industry’s shared responsibility to make cinema viewing on the big screen a worthwhile experience for audiences. He further advised that communication with the government should happen formally through the Film Chamber, not at a personal level, to ensure long-term solutions for the industry.
