CPI Supports Centre’s Anti-Terrorism Operation

But Has Conditions*

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has extended its full support to the Centre’s “Operation Sindhure” aimed at eradicating terrorism. However, the party has also raised concerns about the handling of Maoist issues and has demanded an immediate halt to encounters with Maoists.

CPI State Secretary Speaks Out

CPI state secretary and MLA Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao stated that terrorism knows no caste, religion, or country, and that the Pakistani rulers and terrorists are conspiring to create bloodshed in India. He demanded that Pakistan be taught a lesson for promoting terrorism from across the border, particularly from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Stop Maoist Encounters

Koonamneni criticized the Centre’s “Operation Kagar” aimed at eliminating Maoists, saying it was not the right approach. He demanded that the operation be stopped immediately and that the government should engage in dialogue with Maoists who are willing to come forward for talks. He also questioned the recent encounter of 22 people in the name of combing operations.

Defending Employees’ Right to Strike

Koonamneni also emphasized that strike is a legitimate right of employees and that it is natural for them to resort to strikes when their issues are not resolved. He suggested that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy should hold discussions with employee unions, which would help resolve half of the problems.

A Call for Dialogue

The CPI leader’s statements highlight the party’s nuanced approach to issues of terrorism and Maoism. While supporting the Centre’s efforts to combat terrorism, the CPI is also advocating for a more dialogue-driven approach to resolving Maoist issues.
