Public Health Directorate Faces Harassment and Corruption Scandal

  • Senior Superintendent Accused of Bribery and Sexual Harassment
  • Legal Notice Issued to Senior Officials, Including Health Minister

Article Today, Hyderabad:
The Telangana Directorate of Public Health has been hit by fresh allegations of sexual harassment and corruption. A woman employee has accused a senior superintendent, identified as Hari, of exploiting his authority for personal and financial gain. The complaint, supported by a legal notice, has been sent to the Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and other top officials, triggering widespread concern within the Health Department.

Bribe Demand Over Deputation
According to the legal notice, the complainant, a junior assistant, had applied for deputation. The superintendent allegedly demanded Rs.2 lakh to process the request. The deal was later settled for Rs.1 lakh, of which Rs.50,000 was paid online. Despite the payment, the deputation order was not issued, and the amount was not refunded. The woman has further alleged that the officer subjected her to sexual harassment and deliberately obstructed her deputation process when she resisted his advances.

Evidence Overlooked by Officials
The complainant reportedly possesses WhatsApp chats, phone call recordings, and audio clips as digital evidence against the officer. She has also provided proof of the money transfer. Despite these materials, senior officials allegedly failed to initiate disciplinary proceedings. Instead of suspension, the accused officer was reportedly rewarded with administrative responsibilities. The legal notice condemned the government’s silence as an endorsement of corruption and misconduct.

Web of Systemic Corruption
The legal notice suggested that this case is part of a larger corruption network within the Directorate of Public Health. The accused officer has been described as the key figure in a bribery racket involving other staff members in the administration section. They allegedly collected commissions for transfers, deputations, and promotions. Over the last two years, the group is said to have amassed several crores through illegal activities, manipulating seniority lists and abusing administrative power.

Calls for Immediate Action
Through her counsel, the complainant has requested the Telangana Government to suspend the officer immediately and initiate proceedings under laws related to corruption, bribery, and sexual harassment. The notice also urged for a high-level inquiry by the Anti-Corruption Bureau or Vigilance Department. It demanded protection for the complainant and other whistleblowers who have exposed irregularities within the department.

Awaiting Government Response
The legal notice warned that failure to act promptly would result in further legal proceedings. So far, the Telangana Health Department has not issued any official statement. The incident has reignited debate about transparency, accountability, and workplace safety for women employees within the State’s health administration.
