His wealth also surpasses that of actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is valued at Rs. 12,490 crore.
From IIT to Global Tech Giants
Born in Chennai on June 7, 1994, Mr. Srinivas pursued his higher education at IIT Madras. Even during his student years, he was engaged in teaching reinforcement learning courses. He later moved to the United States, where he completed his Ph.D. in computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. His research covered computer vision and image generation. Before completing his academic journey, he worked with global technology leaders. At OpenAI, he contributed to reinforcement learning research. At DeepMind, he focused on contrastive learning, while at Google, he helped develop vision models. Later, he returned to OpenAI to work on the development of DALL-E 2, a text-tto-image generation model.

The company has since made a mark as an AI-powered search and chat platform designed to provide fast, accurate, and reliable answers to user queries. Its rise in the global technology landscape has brought Mr. Srinivas to international prominence and demonstrated the growing impact of Indian talent in deep-tech and artificial intelligence.
Expanding Focus on India
India has quickly become one of the largest user bases for Perplexity AI. Recognising this growth, Mr. Srinivas has placed India at the centre of the company’s expansion strategy. Plans are underway to establish an AI engineering team in Bengaluru or Hyderabad. This move underlines both his entrepreneurial vision and the rapid transformation of India into a knowledge-driven economy. It also reflects the opportunities available for the country’s young innovators on the global stage.
