Dasara Heat.. Holiday Treat – Tourists Pack Long Weekend

Article Today, Hyderabad:
Tourism across the country has seen a marked rise during this year’s Dasara season. Bookings for the long weekend starting October 2 have increased by nearly 20 to 25 per cent compared to last year. Hotel reservations have also gone up by around 14 to 16 per cent. Travel analysts attribute this trend to people seeking relief from work stress and opting for short holiday breaks.

Weekend Getaway Preference
Families and young travellers are showing interest in two or three-day weekend getaways. Travel companies are offering special packages to meet the demand. Experts predict that the same trend will continue during Diwali and Christmas holidays as well. The ease of booking through online platforms has further strengthened the growth in demand.

Domestic and International Choices
Within India, Goa and Kerala beaches and resorts in Rajasthan remain the most popular destinations. From Hyderabad, many tourists prefer shorter trips to Araku, the Spotted Deer Park, or Tirupati. On the international front, Bali and Sri Lanka have emerged as preferred options. Telugu families are also travelling to Mysuru to witness the traditional Dasara festivities. In Andhra Pradesh, Tirupati, Kodaikanal from Bengaluru, and Visakhapatnam beaches are drawing large numbers.

Higher Prices Reflect Demand
The rise in demand has also led to an increase in travel costs. Hotel tariffs at prominent leisure hotspots have gone up by 15 to 30 per cent. Airfares have also seen a similar rise. Industry experts note that the higher prices are a positive sign for the tourism sector, indicating strong business prospects during the festive season.

Tips for Safe Travel
Travel specialists advise families to choose packages that ensure children’s comfort and safety. They stress the importance of following traffic rules, avoiding roadside food, and observing Covid precautions. Carrying identification cards for children and sharing emergency contact numbers are also recommended. Local markets, beaches, and hill stations are expected to remain attractive for tourists seeking both recreation and family bonding during the holidays.
