Article Today, Hyderabad:
The Telangana government has removed Dr. Srinivasulu from the post of Director of MNJ Cancer Hospital. In his place, Dr. Joseph Benjamin has been appointed as in-charge Director. The Health Department issued formal orders on Wednesday, ending weeks of uncertainty.
Media Reports Trigger Action
The removal follows a series of reports in the digital platforms Sahanam Vande https://sahanamvande.com/?p=6557 and Article Today , https://articletoday.in/ shock-to-dr-srinivasulu-as-dopt-sacks-mnj-director/. These reports highlighted alleged irregularities in Dr. Srinivasulu’s continuation in office despite retirement norms and allocation to Andhra Pradesh. On August 14, both outlets published detailed articles https://articletoday.in/whats-happening-in-mnj-cs-orders-ignored-on-directors-removal/ questioning the validity of his posting. Subsequently, on August 19, the Department of Personnel and Training clarified that his allocation to Andhra Pradesh was proper. The next day, the Andhra Pradesh government formally wrote to Telangana, requesting his repatriation.
Delayed Implementation
Despite these developments, the directive was not immediately acted upon. The Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao instructed the Health Department on August 26 to relieve Dr. Srinivasulu. However, the process was delayed, and he continued in office for nearly 15 more days. This prolonged stay drew criticism from several quarters, with discussions emerging over possible support from senior officials within the department.
Retirement Dispute
Dr. Srinivasulu was originally allotted to Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation of the State. Under that State’s service rules, he was due to retire last year. However, he continued in Telangana, citing legal proceedings over his allocation. Critics argued that his prolonged tenure in MNJ Cancer Hospital, despite allocation to Andhra Pradesh, was against established norms.
