- Pregnant woman’s death reveals fake doctor’s illegal network
Article Today, Hyderabad:
A shocking case of medical malpractice has surfaced in Tungaturthi, Telangana, where a pregnant woman died under the care of a fake doctor. The incident has triggered a state-wide outcry and prompted the Telangana Medical Council to initiate a suo motu inquiry.
Death Under Dubious Treatment
The tragedy came to light when a 26-year-old woman lost her life after receiving treatment from RMP Srinivas, who was illegally running a hospital named Sai Balaji. Following the incident, a probe team led by Dr. Gundagani Srinivas and Dr. Vishnu visited Tungaturthi on Sunday to examine the facility.
Illegal Abortions and Sex Determination
Investigations uncovered disturbing practices inside the hospital. Officials found that Srinivas had been conducting secret sex determination tests and illegal abortions, without any government approval. Locals revealed that he, along with a network of RMPs, had been operating a well-organised racket for several years. Police suspect more quacks are involved in the abortion mafia.
Accused on The Run…
The accused, Srinivas, is currently absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to trace him. Dr. Gundagani Srinivas stated that authorities will determine the scale of the abortion racket, the number of victims, and the extent of involvement of other RMPs. Meanwhile, police sealed the hospital premises.
Past Complaints Ignored
Locals disclosed that they had previously lodged complaints against Srinivas with the district medical authorities. However, no action was taken. They lamented that an innocent woman’s life could have been saved if the authorities had acted earlier.
Official Response…
When contacted, Suryapet District Medical Officer Dr. Chandrasekhar said the earlier complaints had not reached him, as he had taken charge only recently. He assured strict action against RMPs involved in illegal abortions, unauthorised injections, and surgeries. Officials confirmed that a case would be registered against Srinivas under the Indian Medical Council Act.
